About me
My name is Darcia Witherspoon, and I work with the Vanderbilt, Child and Family Center in Nashville, Tn. I have been a Teacher of the Acorn School since 2018. I am currently working with 3-year-olds that I have transitioned with as a three-year study to determine the benefits of continuity of care. I had the honor of serving on the Social Emotional Team in 2020 during Covid and was recognized in a Team Service Award. I have presented training to our parents on the important benefits of mud play and was also asked to present a few trainings to teachers during in-service. I was a poster co-presenter for NAEYC 2023. I was born in North Carolina, but I have lived in Tennessee for 48 years. I have worked in the Early Childhood field since 1991. I spent 26 years with the Head Start Program as a Family Service Coordinator, Home Base Teacher, and Area Manager. Through the Head Start Program, I received the required Early Childhood courses at the local college including an additional 90 hours required training yearly. In my spare time I enjoy creating DIY art with nature materials and gardening.
