About me
With a deeply held belief that all children need three-dimensional, play-based experiences to support deeper learning, I established 3D Childhood to provide professional development which focuses on best practices for early childhood educators. An extensive review of the literature for my two books, Creative Block Play and Exploring the 3D World, confirmed my belief as a former art educator, that drawing is an essential tool for developing spatial skills. As a pastel artist, I also believe that drawing is one of the best ways to observe and appreciate nature. Knowing that many educators don't understand the importance of learning to draw or feel confident guiding children's drawing, I provide professional development (and have included tips in the last chapter of Exploring the 3D World) to close this gap. Drawing on my experience of creating art journals with children, I'm excited to be presenting Journaling the Joy, Beauty and Wonder of Nature at this conference to give conference participants the opportunity to experience the pleasure and playful possibilities of art journaling.
