About me
Mattie is an early childhood program director with a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education teaching and adminstration. With a bachelors in art history and one in creative writing. She grew up in northern Vermont and now resides and works in central Vermont. She is extremely passionate about nature-based, child led curriculum, and presented at 2023's IPA conference in Glasgow about the benefits, strengths and struggles of teaching traditional curiculum in an outdoor classroom. Since then she has changed programs and now runs a school owned by a parent child center that helps families and children who are houseless, hungry, jobless, living in poverty, who have disabilities, refugees and any other help a young child and their family may need. She iscurrently constructing an outdoor classroom for the school's children to further curriculum in a natural approach and to help children who have endured trauma. She has three dogs, a large rabbit who is the school's therapy pet, and four ducklings! Equally passionate about helping animals and children in need through the lightheardedness of nature and play.
