About me
"After “achieving distinction” as “Most Fun To Play With” in 7th grade PE class, my path to play continued at the University of Colorado-Boulder graduate school in speech-language pathology, where my stated goal as a professional clinician would be “to combine discipline and compassion with sense of humor and play” while working with people with language and communication disorders. I have used the power of play daily in my clinical work and have seen first-hand how engaging in playfulness can be a catalyst to transform the quality of a person’s life, in the moment and over time.
I currently work as a pediatric speech-language pathologist in private practice in Boulder CO and my career since 1986 has included working and playing with all ages, infants to the elderly, in clinic and hospital settings, homecare, early intervention, schools, and private practice.
My passion for play has led to attending TASP since 2017 and then forming the Boulder County Toy Library in 2020. I created a pilot program at the Nederland Community Library near Boulder. It’s success now serves as a template for me to share with others interested in developing a community-based toy lending library as a gateway to providing ongoing play opportunities equally to all. The toys and games provided at the Nederland Community Library have been thoughtfully selected for both skill development and fun factor.
