About me
Whitney Woodward has worked in both public and private education for over twenty years, but her exploration into the study of play truly took hold when she served as executive director of a play-based preschool and daycare. It was here that she began to research play and its role both in and out of school environments. In 2018, she began serving on the executive board of the American Branch of the International Play Association (IPA/USA), which she still serves on to this day. In 2020, she moved back to her roots in elementary education, serving as the Director of Teaching and Learning for Pre-First through Second grade at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, where she founded its annual Day of Play. She is passionate about play for children- and adults as well. She is incredibly grateful everyday to work at a school where children are encouraged to play.
